In our meeting this week we were deciding on which idea to take forward.
We picked an idea! After pitching both of the ideas to the tutors it was pretty clear that the circus idea was the way to go, and everyone was excited to start. We all sat down to conjure up an asset list and to finalise the style guide (Easier said than done), and then divided up assets that people most wanted to make! It was a pretty peaceful process, and we were all content that everyone got to do what they wanted to do, and felt comfortable with the workload.
The idea was also refined more; making the asset list forced us to think about how we wanted to light the level, the kind of gameplay mechanics we wanted, and to narrow down specifics about the setting. Ideas that were vague were fleshed out, sacrifices were made, the stars aligned... and our idea was set in motion.
The style we decided to roll with is a semi-stylised, Overwatch-esque type, with influences from a number of different games such as World of Warcraft and Firewatch. The game will be PBR, but some of the proportions can be exaggerated slightly and the colours brighter.
