Group met to present the level in it’s current state to the tutors. While a lot of things need tweaking and fixing, a large bulk of the work has been done. We received feedback on the roughness map issues we were having, and a new focus is adding scatter assets in particular to the level. A lot of assets also need to be addressed in terms of dirt passes, wear and aging, and generally more time needs to be put into the textures in general, which shouldn’t be too difficult now that we have most of the base and details done.
Week Progression
- Make panning normals (In the breeze)
- More medium and small assets
- Sort roughness problems
- Fix the terrain
- Higher poly geometry
- Break up skyline
- Depth, resize trees/vary scale
- Add ropes/tethers/poles

- Texturing
- Remaining Modelling
- Lighting
- Any small Whitebox adjustments
- Landscape sculpting
Group met to talk to tutors more about idea development. The whitebox was approved and considered appropriate and the style fitting. We were advised to produce more textures now rather than later and are moving onto that process alongside ongoing modelling. Asset list was updated slightly and the modelling date extended to the 7th of April and maybe slightly beyond for scatter props, as we need to account for the texturing being done alongside the models. A presentation of our work needs to be shown to the tutors next monday and all main assets must be modelled and unwrapped by that point.
Week Progression
- Start big tent model
- Texturing should be done alongside
- Lighting needs sorting as textures go in
- Landscape painting
- More accurate terrain sculpting
- Stalls need making and placing
- Any smaller scatter props wait until after texturing main assets
- Skybox

- Finalise unwrapping

Group met to develop ideas further with the tutors. The scale of the whitebox is still too big so this week our goal is to fix that once and for all. Almost everyone has started modelling and is working hard on their assets. We also plan to start putting some of our assets into the level as we make them, as some people have blockouts done for their tents and such. We set a deadline for unwrapped models to be placed in the level by: April 4th. While this is a close deadline we are comfortable that this is what we need to do in order to get the game working smoothly. Texturing can be done over easter break.
Week Progression
- Big tent needs a layout- What will it be like inside?
- Extra things to be added once we complete goals
- EVERYTHING MODELLED AND UNWRAPPED BY THE 4th
- Soft colours, make sure there are temporary textures
- Start putting blockouts and wips in level to check scaling
- Work out skybox
- Work on scatter props
Work to Produce for Next Meeting:
- Address scale of whitebox
- Focus on big tent (Layout, interior)
- Refer to asset list when working on assets

Agenda:
- Talk about work done over the past week
- Plan upcoming week/set goals
- Start whitebox/decide on layout
- Asset list
- Mood and visuals
Group met to pitch ideas to the tutors. After more discussion it was decided that the Circus level would be the most appropriate choice, and the one that everyone felt the most passionate about. Afterwards a style guide and an asset list was created detailing the most basic necessary items that would need to be concepted and made, and these were divided between group members. It was decided that everyone should concept their chosen assets and meet on thursday to present and discuss them with eachother, correcting any style errors or deviations where necessary.
Final Idea:
- Circus ground with 3 themed tents, a large tent and a train as the main areas
- Sunset or night
- Custom skybox
- A few select characters
- Stylised but realistic proportions
- PBR
- Overwatch style
- Colourful
- No assets listed for inside of the themed tents
Work to Produce for Next Meeting:
- Weekly blog post
- Asset concepts
- More in-depth style guide
- Produce inside of themed tent asset lists

Group met to receive the brief and discuss initial ideas. Members covered topics of style, individual roles within the group, gameplay, narrative and links to the theme. At the conclusion of the meeting it was decided that each member should go away and research an idea of their own that they felt particularly passionate about, and to produce a small piece of writing and some moodboards ready for presentation to the other group members on wednesday, as well as for future reference.
