Morgan Jones Week 7 - Back on Track!!


Team morale has picked up again where everyone's back from the mini break and are really starting to bring everything together. We are doing everything we can to make the level presentable for the tutors meeting next week so we are all pushing these assets so we can make use of the feedback opportunity. I have currently been working on completing my main circus tent asset. At this stage I will still need to tweak things like adding stitching, fixing my metalness and roughness maps as well as fixing the scale because the seats are too small. I have also been catching up on my Visual studies work and concepting the vista shot for the start of the game to give us something to work from as well as creating a sheet of all of the props that I'll be finalising and creating. Throughout this time in level I have been making major lighting overhauls and am nearing a result that I am happy with. There have been a lot of diffuse lighting blending going on that I have recently realised has something to do with lightmap density usage between the assets. The colours of the the train had been completely washed out which drew me to the attention of this issue but since updating the lightmap density resolution for the asset, the light appears to be acting much more complimentary towards this as well as the rest of the scene. One of the ways that I intend to solve the overly warm look of the game is by implementing cooler shadow contrasts as well as introducing cooler light sources such as blue fire. There is only two weeks left at this stage and the level is a long way from done but I believe if the team keeps up this momentum, we are going to be on track to finishing this level with effective results.
